Make Log File Option
If this menu option is selected, Nuclear Clock will generate a log file of the last 100 attempts to synchronize the clock. The information is stored in an ASCII text file named "Sync.log".
If you are having trouble with Nuclear Clock, or want to check its performance, then you should open Sync.log with Notepad or a word processor. There you will find a list containing information on the success of Nuclear Clock's last 100 synchronizations. A sample line is:
Time: 5/27/01 12:59:24 PM, Server: time-a.nist.gov, Status: Successful, Adjustment = -990 ms
This means that this synchronization of your computer's clock took place at 5/27/01 at 12:59 PM (time recorded after synchronization). The server it downloaded the time from was time-a.nist.gov. The synchronization was successful, and it adjusted your clock by setting it back 990 milliseconds.
Several other possible values for 'Status' are:
Error: Could not connect to server
The time server or network was not operational when trying to connect
Error: Server cannot be found - may be invalid address
Nuclear Clock was unable to find the server on the internet. The address of the server it was trying to connect to may be incorrect.
Error: Connection Timed Out
Nuclear Clock did not receive a response from the time server after waiting a specified number of seconds. Possible causes are a poor Internet connection or slow network. This may also happen if you are downloading a large file on a slow Internet connection. The amount of time to wait before a timeout occurs is specified in the Select Server Dialog.
Error: Time received beyond specified adjustment limit
It could not adjust the clock because the difference was greater than adjustment limit you specified in the configure dialog box. For more information, see Configure Dialog Box
