Introduction
Bookmark Manager Pro offers a new approach to organizing and accessing your favorite websites. It provides a friendly Explorer-like interface to easily move, edit, and view your stored websites. Unlike other bookmark management utilities, Bookmark Manager Pro does not present the inconvenience of importing and exporting bookmarks between its database and the Windows Favorites. BMP's simplicity combined with powerful features make this a useful tool for any web surfer. Additional features include search capabilities, customizeable arrangements of bookmarks, ability to automatically identify dead links, and a built-in web browser. Bookmark Manager will definitely make you a web surfer Pro!
This introduction will give you an overview of the basic features in Bookmark
Manager Pro.

Program Interface
This is a description of the main window and
its features
- Folder Tree Box - This is a list of
folders. Selecting a folder here will change the contents of the
Bookmarks List Box. There are three important folders to note: the 'Dead
Links' folder, 'Favorites' folder, and 'Other Bookmarks' folder.
Favorites Folder - This folder contains a copy of the data in the Windows Favorites,
which are used by the Internet Explorer web browser. Any
changes made to the 'Favorites' folder or a subfolder of the 'Favorites'
folder will also affect the Windows Favorites. If a change
to the Favorites is made outside of BMP while the program is running, click 'Refresh'
on the view menu.
Other Bookmarks Folder - This folder, unlike the Favorites folder, does not affect
anything else. Whatever is in this folder is unaffected by changes
outside of Bookmark Manager Pro.
Dead Links Folder - This folder is a special storage place for
dead links. To learn more how BMP can automatically check for dead
links, see the Automatic Dead Links Search
page.
- Bookmarks List Box - This is a list of the
bookmarks in the folder selected in Folder List Box. Bookmarks do not
have to be websites. They can also refer to documents on the user's
system.
- Comments Box - You can type in any sort of
comment you have about the selected bookmark here (user name,
description, etc.). Just typing it in will save it. When the
bookmark is selected again, the comment will reappear in the box.
- Embedded Web Browser (minibrowser) - This
provides a convenient way to visit your websites. When the automatic
preview feature is turned on, clicking a bookmark once will cause that URL
to be displayed in the embedded web browser.
- Fold Panel Button - Clicking this will cause
that part of the interface to "fold" away, making more room. for
the other half.
Main Toolbar Buttons
Please note that each function on the toolbar can also be
accessed on the main menu.
- Browsing Control Buttons -
use these buttons to view the currently selected bookmark. Here is a
description of each button:
Open in new window - opens the currently selected bookmark in a
new Internet Explorer window
Open
in window last used - opens the currently selected bookmark in the most
recently used Internet Explorer window. If no windows are currently
open, it opens a new browser window.
Open in embedded browser - opens the currently selected bookmark in
BMP's embedded browser.
Clipboard buttons - use these buttons to move bookmarks to different folders. They are
cut, copy, and paste respectively. These buttons work exactly as the
Windows clipboard. However, you may not be able to paste a bookmark to
other applications such as Windows Explorer.
Bookmark functions - these buttons perform functions with the items in the Bookmarks List
Box. They are Add, Delete, and Edit, respectively.
Folder functions - these buttons perform functions with the folders in the Folder List
Box. They are Add, Delete, and Rename, respectively.
Positioning buttons - use these buttons to change the order of bookmarks
in the list view. BMP will remember the order of the bookmarks in each
folder. You can also sort the bookmarks by dragging them.
Resize buttons - these buttons adjust the size of the two panes; the up button increases
the size of the web browser, down button decreases the size.
- Help button - click
this at any time to access BMP's help file.
- Special Features -
These buttons access BMP's special features. Switch views between your
Bookmarks, the Search Tool, and Dead Links checker.
