Power Management Options
(Advanced Windows Users Only)

Starting in version 2.0, AlarmWorks has added features to deal with Windows Power Management features.  These features affect "standby mode," switching the monitor to low power state, and turning off hard disks.

To find the AlarmWorks power management settings, click the "Configure" button on the toolbar, then select the "Power Management" tab.

This is a short description of each option:

Prevent computer from entering Standby Mode - If this box is checked, Windows will not enter Standby Mode (aka Sleep Mode on some systems) if AlarmWorks is running.  Standby mode is a Windows power saving feature which puts the computer in a dormant state that turns off the hard drive, monitor, and other system processes.  If this box is unchecked, your alarms may not ring because some systems do not allow the software to "wake up" the system.

Turn on monitor if set to low power mode - Checking this box will allow AlarmWorks to turn on the monitor if it has been shut of by the Windows screen saver settings.  This feature only affects the monitor and will not wake the computer if in Standby Mode.
